Manos De Jesus

As Manos De Jesus became part of the Chichicastenango community, it became clear that there was a need for a place that could serve to provide a continuum of care options for local Guatemalans, host visiting short term mission teams, and store materials. God provided the ministry such a place, and it is called Monte Flor, or Flower Mountain; the name this piece of land has possessed as long as locals can remember.

Monte Flor is a sixty acre property located just outside the town of Chichicastenango. The works of Monte Flor are to embody a community-centered approach to providing care, spiritual guidance, education, and resources that facilitate the health and independence of local families and communities.

Our Founder

Ron Morin, 1940-2017

Ron worked in Central America for more than 25 years. He started with a Pastor’s Prayer Network in the 1980’s which led him to overseas mission work. At that time he also found himself in the midst of a large shoebox ministry. He facilitated the donation of bibles and toys placed in shoe boxes, and delivering them to Central America. The shoebox ministry continues today and is much larger than Ron could have ever imagined.

Following God’s call, Ron then found himself transporting as many donations and bibles as he could to orphanages in Central America. He soon felt called to minister to the Guatemalan people and began replacing dilapidated mobile homes with block homes at the Casa Bernebe Orphange in Guatemala City.

In 2003, Ron felt God’s call again, and he planted the Manos de Jesus ministry here in Chichicastenango. His love for the Guatemalan people was always evident as he walked the streets of Chichi handing out tickets for new shoes from our Shoe Factory here at Monte Flor. His heart for the people could also be seen as he seemed to continually hire Guatemalans into the ministry; and somehow payroll is met each month.
